NORTH HAVEN FENCING

JUNIOR VARSITY TOURNAMENT

On January 13th, 2007, North Haven will host the Junior Varsity Fencing Tournament at North Haven High School.  The Gym will be open no earlier than 8:00 AM.  Registration will close at 8:30 AM and we will start fencing no later than 9:00 AM.

The format of the tournament will be one seeding round followed by a super direct elimination.  We would like to emphasize that this tournament is restricted to Junior Varsity: usually 2nd year fencers (please absolutely no first year fencers or Varsity fencers).  The top finalists of last year's tournament are not eligible to compete, nor are any fencers who have participated in the State Championships.  Also, any fencer who competes in this tournament is automatically ineligible for participation in the Novice Tournament (which will take place in February).  If you have any questions regarding your fencers' eligibility, please do not hesitate to contact me.

As always we ask each participating school (or club) to bring as many scoring machines and reels as they own.  Extension cords and stopwatches are also needed.  The directing of the early rounds will be done by the captains and seniors and we will need help to keep time and scores on the strips.  All teams must be accompanied by their coach or a school representative.

To facilitate preparation of the different pools, I would like a list of participants from your school by Wednesday, January 10th, and at the same time let us know how many reels and scoring machines you will be bringing along.
